A MAJOR A9 link in the Highlands has re-opened following an earlier incident.

The Kessock Bridge was closed in both directions just after 7pm this evening.

Traffic Scotland, which provides updates on trunk roads, had flagged the closure earlier stating it was fully closed in both directions due to a police incident, advising motorists to approach with care.

It was declared cleared around two hours later.

The Highlands are currently the subject of a Met Office Yellow weather warning for wind. That is in place until 10am tomorrow morning.

The warning alerts people of potential travel disruption and difficult driving conditions in more exposed areas.

Police have been contacted for comment.
