UPDATE: A9 reopened near Aviemore after earlier collision at A95 junction

AN accident which closed the A9 in the Highlands earlier has been cleared.

The route was closed in both directions near Aviemore due to an accident in which a man was injured.

The crash happened at around 4.30pm at the junction of the A9 and A95 at Lynwilg.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A9 near Aviemore shortly after 4.30pm on Monday, January 9.

“One man has been taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

"Recovery has been arranged for the car."

Traffic Scotland later confirmed both lanes of the trunk road had been cleared by around 9.23pm.
