Police have confirmed that there have been two more break-ins in Aviemore bringing the total to 11 in the strath in the past fortnight.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a break-in and attempted break-in at two properties on Morlich Place in Aviemore yesterday (Monday).

“Enquires are ongoing and officers are keeping an open mind about links to similar incidents in the Bdenoch & Strathspey area.”

The village was also hit by burglaries in Craig na Gower Avenue in Aviemore between Tuesday, March 19 and Sunday (March 24).

Items including jewellery, electronics and cash were stolen from the properties.

They in turn followed break-ins also in Aviemore, Kingussie and Newtonmore a few days previous.

Police officers are urging members of the public to be vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary.

Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “I would like to reassure the public that we are thoroughly investigating these incidents and are committed to finding the persons responsible. We are keeping an open mind about whether these incidents are linked.

"Help from the public is vital to our enquiries.

“Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these areas, no matter how small, should get in touch.”
