UPDATE: Two casualties taken to Ninewells Hospital after A9 crash at Dalnaspidal

Two people have been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after two vehicles were involved in a collision on the A9 by the gateway into the Highlands.

The condition of both casualties is described as stable.

The Inverness-Perth road was closed for several hours at Dalnaspidal at the north end of Highland Perthshire but is now open in both directions.

The accident occurred just north of the dual carriageway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.50am today, police were called to a two vehicle road crash involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a Nissan NV200 van on the A9 at Dalnaspidal.

"Two people, a man and woman, from the Corsa have been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where staff describe their condition as stable.

"The two occupants of the van were not injured.

"The road is now open."

Police have confirmed that no-one is to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the accident.
