Heavy rainfall is expected to further affect parts of western Scotland tomorrow, bringing a risk of some additional flooding and transport disruption.

Rail

ScotRail expects disruption to continue until the end of the day and as a result have confirmed that 70 services will be cancelled today – mostly due to flooding on the line.

No services will operate between Perth and Inverness and Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh, in both directions.

Services between Edinburgh and Inverness, and Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness, have all been cancelled.

ScotRail have advised that due to very limited replacement road transport being secured, passengers are advised to consider making their own arrangements.

A spokesperson said: "No trains will run between Perth and Inverness, Perth and Dunblane, or Montrose and Stonehaven tomorrow. The Kyle line will also likely be closed all day.

"We're working hard to arrange alternative transport for routes that remain closed.

"As always, if you have to travel during extreme weather, we recommend you check your journey before setting off. "

ScotRail say that a replacement bus has been secured to replace the 8.55am service from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, which will operate from Inverness at 9.30am to Kyle.

Replacement buses has been requested for further local services but have not been confirmed. The rail operator is currently advising passengers to make their own arrangements.

Roads

Traffic Scotland are still advising caution while the risk of additional flooding and transport disruption is present.

Fairly heavy rainfall is likely to affect many western parts of Scotland tomorrow, although Traffic Scotland anticipate that this will be "nothing like the amount seen on Saturday."

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Highland and the Western Isles, is expected to be lifted by 9pm tomorrow (Tuesday).
