TRAVEL UPDATE: Met Office issues severe flood warning for Highland and Western Islands

Police Scotland have given travel advice as the Met Office have issued another severe flood warning set to hit the Highland and Western Islands today.
Following the disruptive rainfall across much of Scotland in recent days, another weather warning has been put into place as severe flooding and extreme winds are to be expected over the course of the week.
Traffic Scotland have issued a weather warning for the Highland and Western Islands as they have urged drivers to travel carefully.
Road users have been encouraged to travel with caution when crossing the A9 Kessock Bridge, Northbound and Southbound, due to high winds currently affecting driving conditions.
Chief Superintendent Hilary Sloan has given an update on travel advice as some roads remain closed due to weather conditions and flooding.
She said: “I would like to thank the public for their co-operation and for sticking to the travel advice in place to keep people safe over the past few days.
“While the picture is improving, we are still dealing with several road closures and hazardous driving conditions due to surface water and debris.
“There is a possibility for disruption tomorrow with a further yellow warning in place so I would continue to remind people to please exercise caution on the roads.
“I would urge you to take heed of any road closures that are in place and to stay away from flood water.
“If you need to travel, please drive to the conditions and take extra time for your journey.”
