Top Guns: Inside the RAF will showcase RAF Lossiemouth on Channel 4

You've all seen Top Gun the movie, starring Tom Cruise, but the real deal will hit your TV screens later this month.

The men and women of RAF Lossiemouth, the pilots, navigators and all the other ranks and trades which ensure the RAF's premier base functions each day, will get nationwide exposure.

'Top Guns: Inside the RAF' is a documentary series which will air for the first time on Channel 4 at 9pm on August 21.

The Moray base just welcomed home personnel and Typhoon jets from 1(F) Squadron.

Their return marks the completion of the UK leading NATO's Baltic air policing mission in Estonia.

Typhoon jets and personnel from IX(B) Squadron and 1(F) Squadron from RAF Lossiemouth had been deployed to conduct Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) since March 2023.

As part of the deployment RAF pilots have flown for more than 500 hours, intercepting 50 Russian aircraft.

Over the course of six 60-minute documentaries, the public will get a glimpse behind the UK's frontline defence force.

Produced by True North Productions, it will offer unprecedented access to the work of the Moray base, which is home to the Typhoon fighter aircraft and Poseidon maritime submarine hunter.
