The next departure from Cromdale Station.... will be the owners of 26 years.

John and Kathleen Diffey took over the derelict railway station at Cromdale in 1994 and have transformed it back to its former glory, showering it with plenty of TLC.

The couple are moving out in October.

During their time there they restored the building to its original railway appearance and installed and converted a 1916 railway carriage body which is used for holiday accommodation.

In 2016 John won a design award from the Cairngorms National Park Authority for his development at Cromdale.

The new owners are Ibrahim and Laura Sunan, from Boat of Garten, who are committed to continuing the self-catering business.

Commenting on the move, Mr Diffey said: "Kathleen and I are naturally sad to be leaving the station after all the work we have done, but with the onset of serious illness it is perhaps the right time.

"But we will definitely be returning, as we have burial plots at Delliefure for which we have done our best to promote as custodians over the last six years."

Mr Diffey has a range of tools, machinery and leisure items for disposal for the house move which he will be selling through a traditional roup.

Mr Diffey said: "Unfortunately due to the present crisis this has to be done online at anmgroup.co.uk and will take place next Wednesday (September 2) from 10am."
