Covid-19 infection numbers increase by 13 in NHS Highland region; new rise came as Scotland recorded 1001 fresh coronavirus cases in the past day

ANOTHER 13 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed across the NHS Highland region in the past 24 hours.

The area's cumulative number of infections rose from 1613 to 1626 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm.

There were 1001 new positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland in the past day.

Nine-hundred-and-ninety-nine people were receiving treatment for the virus in hospital yesterday – up 15 on the previous day.

Of those, some 53 were in intensive care, an increase of one.

And sadly 30 further people have died after being diagnosed with the virus.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases on Orkney, Shetland or in the Outer Hebrides.

NHS Grampian saw its cumulative total rise to 5504 after 111 new positive tests were recorded.

And NHS Tayside detected 64 new cases, for a running tally of 6498.

Scotland has now reported 104,306 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
