The Grantown Show has been cancelled this year because of Covid, of course, but there will be 'The Greentown Show'.
Organisers Sustainable Strathpsey have announced the new event will take place on September 4 and to help 'give a push' ahead of COP26 in Glasgow.
It will be staged in The Square in Grantown and showcase what is happening in the town to help combat climate change.
Spokesman Dr Peter Grant, of Sustainable Strathspey, explained: "This event aims to celebrate all that is being done already by businesses and individuals in Grantown to tackle the climate change and biodiversity crises, to advise on what more they can do, and also to give a push to politicians to prioritise immediate action at COP26 in Glasgow.
"Local businesses on the High Street will be displaying in their windows a list of three things that they are doing to tackle the crisis, and a number of householders around the town will be inviting folk to visit to see what they have done, whether it has been to instal photovoltaic panels, insulate their house, or create an insect-rich garden and so on.
"To back this up, we will have expert advice from Home Energy Scotland, Highland Region Waste Management, and a number representatives of firms specialising in green construction and retrofitting."
COP26 is the 2021 United Nations climate change conference and is taking place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12, later this year.
For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs – which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. In that time climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority.
