Tea-dancers will be treated to a veritable "high" tea of culture at Kingussie this Saturday - courtesy of a visit by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

The RSNO’s "Big Highland Residency" is collaborating with communities in the north of Scotland to present a springtime celebration of music-making.

A RSNO spokesman said: "We’re connecting with the music-loving communities of Inverness and surrounding area for The Big Residency.

"It's a week-long celebration featuring cross-community performances, workshops, interactive sessions, concluding with a full symphonic concert."

Behind the scenes, RSNO musicians have been working with young musicians from around the Highlands since September, last year.

They have been preparing them for forthcoming performances with Highland Regional Youth Orchestra, Highland Youth String Orchestra and Highland Schools Wind Band.

In addition, over the last eight months RSNO players have been in residency in the Highlands offering open masterclasses for wind and string musicians aged 16 to 18.

For the strath’s music lovers, the big night comes at the Badenoch Centre from 1pm on Saturday.

A £6 ticket will buy a fine tea and a dance to the very best in music from a 20-piece section of one of Britain’s finest orchestras.
