Strathspey zip wire centre set to reopen

A spokesman for TreeZone zip wire centre at Rothiemurchus told the Strathy today (Monday, July 27) that the business was set to open up again on Wednesday.

The outdoor base was closed on Friday morning when a holidaymaker was taken to hospital after an accident.

She was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness as a precaution but later released after a check up.

The centre was closed for health and safety checks are carried out.

TreeZone is operated by In Your Element, which operates a number of outdoor centres in Scotland.

At the weekend a spokesman said: “An initial investigation leads us to believe that part of the primary breaking system on the main zip wire failed.

“The secondary brake operated as it is designed to and stopped the customer.

“Following the incident an adult fe ale visitor was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

“TreeZone will remain closed until a full health and safety check of the entire course can take place on Monday by an external independent safety specialist.

“The course will not re-open to the public until we are fully satisfied that it is safe to do so.”

Tonight the company old the Strathy: "We will be re-opening TreeZone on Wednesday.

"The customer involved in the incident on Friday was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but was discharged after a couple of hours to continue her holiday."
