Strathspey man caught in Nepal quake tragedy

A Grantown man who has found himself in the middle of disaster-struck Nepal in the wake of the major earthquake that rocked the country last weekend has appealed to people back home to help with the relief efforts.

Thousands of lives have been claimed by the 7.8 quake, more than 10,000 injured and more than eight million people affected across the Himalayan nation.

Stuart Dickson (47), known as Stu, flew out of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu by helicopter on Saturday morning, landing in Lukla in the Khumbu region less than an hour before the country was devastated by the catastrophe.
