Fallen trees block roads at Kincraig and Grantown but have now been cleared

Storm Isha has caused disruption in the strath and beyond, with many roads affected by fallen trees and debris as well as some closed by flooding.

"Roads teams have been working very hard to re-open all routes," said a spokeskperson ion this morning's roads conditions report.

"Updates are being continually posted on our social media channels."

Last night (Sunday) saw unusually widespread, very strong winds across Scotland.

A Met Office RED warning was declared for East Highland and the Moray Firth around midnight which lasted until 5am.

The Amber alert was downgraded to Yellow this morning, and this remains in place until noon today.

In Badenoch and Strathspey (8.13am) there are wet roads throughout the area.

Ryan Hill sent in this footage of the change in the water levels of the River Calder by Newtonmore following the big thaw.

He said: " It’s impressive how fast the landscape can change in the space of 36 hours with the mix of heavy rain and melting snow."

The Bridge of Brown is still being treated as a precaution due to negative road surface temperatures.

"There is debris on all routes across the network due to Storm Isha. Crews have been mobilised to check the network for debris and fallen trees."

The B9152 was closed for a while at Dunachton until a fallen tree was cleared.

The A939 Grantown to Braes of Castle Grant suffered the same fate but is now re-opened.

Inverness area: "No winter action due to higher than forecast temperatures. Working to clear fallen trees across the network, all roads open at this time."

A number of schools or nurseries closed today as a result of Storm Isha.
