Still time to stand for Cairngorms National Park Authority elections

Time is starting to run out for anyone wishing to stand for election as one of five community representatives on the Cairngorms National Park Authority Board.

They have have until 4pm on Wednesday 15 February to lodge their nomination papers.

The five wards are:

Ward one – Highland/Perth and Kinross (main communities are Blair Atholl, Dalwhinnie, Kingussie, and Newtonmore).

Ward two – Highland (main communities are Aviemore, Boat of Garten, Coylumbridge and Feshiebridge).

Ward three – Highland (main communities are Carrbridge, Cromdale, Grantown and Nethybridge).

Ward four – Moray (main communities are Cockbridge, Glenlivet, Strathdon and Tomintoul).

Ward five – Aberdeenshire/Angus/Perth and Kinross (main communities are Ballater and Braemar).

The elections are run by Highland Council and nomination forms can be downloaded from the local authority’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/cnpa

To qualify, candidates must be 21 years of age or over but need not be resident in the ward for which they wish to stand nor the national park area in general.

Candidates must complete a nomination paper which must be subscribed to by two electors as proposer and seconder and by four other electors living in that electoral ward as assenting to the nomination.

All nomination forms must be completed and returned to the relevant Depute Returning Officer no later than 4pm on Wednesday 15 February 2023.
