Still time to reclaim the 'missing' community councils in Badenoch, Strathspey and beyond

The Highland Council is reminding anyone considering joining their local community council that there is still time to submit their nomination for the remaining areas.
Badenoch and Strathspey needs the following numbers of nominations:
Carrbridge 4; Cromdale and Advie 4; Dalwhinnie 4; Dulnain Bridge 4; Grantown 5.
Around the Highlands:
Balintore and Hilton 4; Ballachulish 4; Ballifeary 4; Bower 4; Cawdor And West Nairnshire 5.
Creich 5; Dalneigh and Columba 5; Dornie And District 4; East Nairnshire 4; Glendale 4; Golspie 4; Inver 4; Merkinch 6; Muir of Ord 5; Muirtown 6.
Nairn West and Suburban 6; Nigg and Shandwick 4 ; Portree 5; Resolis 4; Sleat 4; Small Isles 4; Smithton 5; Stromeferry and Achmore 4; Sunart 4.
Tain 6; Waternish 4.
A Highland Council spokesperson said: "The numbers indicated above confirm the total number of members required to form a community council, if we do not reach that number then the community council area will therefore be dissolved.
"This is everyone's chance to help represent the views of their community to The Highland Council and other public agencies."
Those wishing to stand must be 16 years of age, be a resident within the community council boundary and must be a registered voter: contact the electoral registration office on 0800 393783 or email ero@highland.gov.uk to check if you are a registered voter.
To stand as candidate, all you need do is self-nominate yourself by completing and submitting the online nomination form by 12noon on Tuesday 30 January 2024.

Should the number of candidates validly nominated exceed the total maximum permitted membership as specified for the community council area, an election will be held by post.
Each elector shall be entitled to vote for a number of candidates up to and including the number of vacancies on the community council.
