After the disappointment of its 'Santa ban' in accordance with best safety practice during the pandemic, Strathspey Steam Railway is steaming on with its festive runs.

And they started in great excitement this weekend with snow on the track.

The company have posted: "We plan to operate festive afternoon teas and mince pie special trains."

These are the listed dates:

December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 23, 30 and 31.

January 1 and 2.

"We are encouraging everyone to use our online booking service via the website so that we can allocate passengers the most convenient seating for your journey.

"A small number of seats may be available for casual booking at Boat of Garten but we strongly recommend that you use the online booking system and plan to join the train at Aviemore.

"There is plenty of parking space in our own car park off Dalfaber Road. At the moment we are operating to a reduced timetable so please check the details on the website or at our stations.

"While travelling with us, passengers must comply with the Scottish Government requirements for face coverings on-board our trains. (These can be removed while eating and drinking, of course)."

Passengers are also asked to minimise moving around the carriage during their journey.

"And finally, once again we are absolutely delighted to be able to welcome you back on-board our trains!”
