The Christmas tree lights switch-on will take place in Aviemore on the Village Green this Saturday.

There will be carol singing from local children, along with the Hope Church choir.

Aviemore Community Council chairman Peter Long said that the community celebration was back to more or less the previous format.

Mr Long said: "This will be a great opportunity for the whole community to come together as we near the end of a challenging year. We’d like to thank all those that help to make the event happen, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Village Green on Saturday. Please come and join us if you can – remember to wrap up warm though!

The Christmas tree lights will be turned on by Tara Mackie whose design won this year’s children’s Aviemore winter lights competition.

Catering will kindly by provided by the Cairngorm Hotel, Tesco and Walkers and the tree has been donated by Reidhaven Estate.

The proceedings get under way at 4pm.
