Parklands Care Homes has been caring for older people in the Highlands for almost 30 years, and we’re expanding.

That’s good news for local communities because it means more care beds for our ageing population and the prospect of new career opportunities for local people.

We operate nine care homes across Moray and the Highlands, including Lynemore in Grantown, shortlisted as one of the best new care homes in 2020. Elsewhere in the Highlands, work is underway on a multimillion-pound care hub in Inverness, our biggest ever investment.

So, for anyone considering a career in the care sector, now is a great time to start.

One of the advantages of working for a local company like Parklands is the diversity of employment opportunities we provide.

We have vacancies in Grantown and across the Highlands and Moray – for managers, carers, nurses, shift leaders and ancillary staff. Everyone at Parklands plays an important role in the delivery of high-quality care.

Staff who join us in any role benefit from our commitment to provide training and a clear career path where their ambition is supported and rewarded.

Age is no barrier to a career in the care sector. Around 40% of our workforce are aged 45-64; many are long serving employees, but some have joined us after successful careers in other sectors. It’s never too late to make the change.

Qualifications are not always essential. Our in-house Parklands Academy provides high quality training plans including accredited SVQ courses. Crucially, it ensures that staff can continue to work and train in their local communities, develop new skills and gain promotion.

At Parklands, our greatest asset is our people. In return for their hard work, we offer flexible working conditions and competitive salaries. And for a limited time only, we’re offering cash incentives for new staff - £2,000 for new full time nurses and £250 for all other new employees. It pays to care at Parklands.

The pandemic has brought home the important role of care staff. Jackie Macrae, Parklands’ Highland area manager says: “The care home sector is a very challenging and rewarding role to work in, you build relationships with residents and families, and you become part of their family too, which makes the care person centred and meaningful.”

Niamh Clark joined Parklands at the age of 19 with no previous care experience but is already gaining new skills. “Parklands is a great company to work for and they encourage you to progress in your career. I am keen to do my SVQ and possibly go on to do my nursing at a later date,” she says.

Last year Niamh was nominated as Young Employee of the Year in the Highland Business Awards. She adds: “I would encourage anyone to give care a try. There is no better feeling than helping residents feel safe and secure.”

If you’re passionate about delivering high standards, ambitious for the future and determined to make a difference, we want to hear from you. Care for a career?
