SPEECH and language therapists are set to host a special advice and information stand in the Highlands to mark Stammering Awareness Day.

Therapists Tracy Robson and Joanne Johnson will hold an awareness stand in the Outpatients Department at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on October 17. It will come just a few days before the awareness day on October 22.

The stand will provide information about stammering and the role speech and language therapy plays with people who stammer and the wider population.

There will be some merchandise available to buy and a pot for donations to help fundraise for Stamma.org.

Highland councillor John Finlayson “I am delighted that awareness is being promoted with regard to this issue and information will be made available to help those who need support with stammering or want to find out more about how to support others including children.

"As an ex-Head Teacher I am acutely aware of how stammering can affect young people and also how important speech and language therapists are in ensuring the right advice and support is given to those who require it.”
