Air and coastguard searches to locate missing Inverness journalist Clive Dennier are continuing.

The teams are targeting specific areas within the remote area of the West Coast close to where Clive’s car was found at Kinlochhourn at the head of Loch Hourn which is one of the main gateways to Knoydart.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the Red Cross will also launch a search at the weekend that will include the use of sonar equipment on Loch Hourn.

Clive's silver VW Polo was located last Friday at Kinlochhourn, which is off the A87 west of Invergarry, sparking a major search of the area.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed there would be no land searches but added: "Air searches by Skywatch and the coastguard are underway today targeting specific areas.

“There are further planned searches over the weekend which include the Red Cross with the aid of sonar equipment.

“We remain in daily contact with Clive’s family to keep them updated on the ongoing inquiry.”

Rescue teams believe Clive may have been headed to Knoydart via Glen Barrisdale.

On Friday, Glenelg and Kintail mountain rescue teams alongside police dogs concentrated on the car and the immediate vicinity to try to establish the direction Clive might have gone in.

A larger scale operation continued on Saturday around the Knoydart Peninsula, Kinlochourn, Barrisdale and Glen Quoich.

The search was co-ordinated by Northern Constabulary with Glenelg, Kintail and Royal Air Force mountain rescue teams, the coastguard and police dog units. Five of Clive’s friends as well as his brother in-law also joined the land search.

The last known sighting of Clive, who lives in Inverness, was on March 22 when he was working in Grantown at the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald office.

Police were alerted to his disappearance by concerned colleagues after he failed to turn up for work on Monday morning last week.
