Households in the Dalfaber area of Aviemore are being warned that they will be without electricity for a short while later this month whilst work is carried out to instal a new substation locally.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has been contacting residents to inform them of the power outage starting on Friday April 22 between 11pm and 5am the next day.

They have said all supplies will be affected regardless of electricity companies that homes are with.

Craig Cameron, SSEN spokesman, said: "We are turning off the electricity supply to allow us to safely carry out essential work to our electrical equipment in the Dalfaber Drive area of Aviemore.

"The work will involve installing a new substation.

"While the work is being done affected homes will be without power for the shortest time necessary.

"The safety of our customers and staff is at the hear of what we do and we would like to apologise for the inconveniences that this causes...

"We will turn the electricity back on as soon as the work is finished."
