Police raided a 23 year old Aviemore man's home after receiving intelligence that he was in possession of indecent images of children.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told last month that the raid took place on March 9, last year, at Corbett Place – the home of first offender Levente Kovacs.

Fiscal depute Robert Weir told Sheriff Gary Aitken that several devices were seized by the police and a subsequent analysis of an iPhone revealed a total of 50 images of girls between the age of four and 13.

Mr Weir told the court they were all thumbnails, not accessible to the user and 12 of them were the most extreme.

Sentence had been deferred for a background report.

Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell said: "He has no wish to repeat this type of offending."

Sheriff Aitken said he was "just persuaded" not to impose a jail sentence.

Instead, he placed Kovacs under three years of supervision and lon the Sex Offender's Register for the same period.

Kovacs must also participate in a sex offender's rehabilitation programme and carry out 150 hours of unpaid community work.
