Scottish Water is on-site for an inspection and clear-up after a sewage leak on a well-used cut-through in Aviemore.

The burst occurred early last night with effluent being pumped out on land by the underpass to the Dalfaber Industrial Estate.

By this morning, the waste and liquid had created a small pond between housing at Craiggowrie Place and Lockhart Place.

Neighbours said that the leakage had occurred before at the same location.

The burst was reported to Scottish Water last night at around 6.15pm when the effluent had already started to pool and there was a heady odour but that has now dissipated.

There is still access to and from the underpass.
