Fresh evidence to be taken at Scottish Parliament in inquiry into the A9 dualling project

The Scottish Parliament’s citizen participation and public participation committee will meet next week to take evidence as part of its ongoing inquiry into the A9 dualling project.
Current and former Transport Scotland officials, as well as representatives from the civil engineering industry, will give evidence.
The committee will meet on Wednesday, January 24 at 9:30 am in Holyrood’s Smith Room (CR5), with the meeting to be broadcast on Scottish Parliament TV.
It follows the Scottish Government’s confirmation in February last year that finishing A9 dualling by the originally promised date of 2025 was "unachievable".
The new delivery plan anticipates completion of the entire A9 dualling programme between Perth and Inverness by the end of 2035.
The committee is expected to put questions to Transport Scotland and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Scotland (CECA) on the new delivery programme and query why the Scottish Government failed to meet its original deadline.
