NHS Highland is holding two opens days next month to allow local people to visit the new Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital in Aviemore prior to opening.

The new hospital will have 24-beds, 12 consulting treatment rooms, Minor Injuries Unit and x-ray facilities.

It will also provide accommodation for the Aviemore GP practice along with community health and social care teams.

There will also be physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, chemotherapy, a midwife service and a Scottish Ambulance Service base.

Kenny Rodgers, NHS Highland’s project director for the Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital, said: “The new hospital is due to open at the end of September and we are holding open days on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September to allow people to visit and see the layout of the building and hospital grounds.

“It has been a challenging construction period during the Covid-19 pandemic and there has been little opportunity for people to see the progress we have made before the hospital officially opens its doors.”

The open days will follow Covid-19 regulations and a booking system will be in place. No drop-in visitors will be permitted.

Visits inside the hospital will last for one hour around a way-marked route.

The visits inside the hospital will run both days from 9am on the hour until the last visit at 4pm.

Visitors can walk through the external hospital grounds at their leisure before or after their booked visit.

Those interested in attending should contact nhsh.nhshighlandestatesprojects@nhs.scot to book a slot in the schedule and provide their name, address and phone number for Covid-19 registration along with their preferred timeslot.

Facemasks and hand gel will be available and social distancing will be in place.
