People are being asked for their views on proposals by the Highland Council to review the maximum level of charges for the hire of taxis or private hire cars fitted with taxi meters operating under licence of the Highland Council.

The council has a statutory duty in terms of Section 17 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 to review its scales for the fares and other taxi related charges every 18 months.

At the Highland Licensing Committee meeting of September 6, Members agreed a draft tariff for public consultation which included a 20 per cent increase to all tariffs

The proposed draft tariff would take effect from February 2023.

A full copy of the draft tariff for public consultation can be found at: https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/1125/licences_permits_and_permissions/465/licensing_news

Members of the public are invited to submit their comments about the above proposals by Monday October 10.

This can be done via an e-mail to licensing@highland.gov.uk or in writing to:

Claire McArthur, Principal Solicitor (Regulatory Services), Highland Council, Council Offices, High Street, Dingwall, IV15 9QN

All representations received will be considered by the Highland Licensing Committee at their meeting of November 29.
