Care home operator Parklands Care Homes is to launch a series of Pride events for residents and staff.

Parklands Pride will take place in June and July, with five shows featuring drag performers Venus Guytrap and Miss Lossie Mouth.

The 80-minute shows will feature songs from icons such as Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and Tina Turner.

Homes in Tain, Fortrose, Muir of Ord, Grantown and Aberlour will take part in the event which is aimed at celebrating diversity and inclusion under the banner ‘Proud to Care.’

Elaine Taylor, Parklands' operations director said: “Parklands Care Homes aims to create an environment where everyone feels cherished, respected, and supported and is empowered to live their life to the full.

"Parklands Pride will celebrate diversity in a fun and inclusive way.”

Darryl Alexander Geegan, who performs as Venus Guytrap, said: "It's an absolute honour and privilege to be asked to perform these shows.

"I am soon to qualify as a nurse and have worked and grown-up as a carer, so to be able to bring some joy and excitement to the care home environment feels very special."

John Naples-Campbell, performing as Miss Lossie Mouth said: “I’m so excited to bring the Judy and Liza show to care homes across the Highlands and Moray.

"Legends in the LGBTQ+ community don’t come much higher than these two so I’m hoping the audience love the hits and story of this mother and daughter duo told in the only way Miss Lossie Mouth knows how… through jazz hands!”

The first events kick off this weekend in Grantown and Aberlour.

As well as hosting its own Pride events, Parklands is to sponsor this year’s Highland Pride and Pride in Moray.
