The capital of Badenoch lost some of its power last night for several hours and one local has offered: "I hope it was not the goat chewing the cables that caused it..."
Neighbouring Kincraig had a short power cut also but was quickly back on, while at Kingussie the break lasted much longer according to Ruaridh Ormiston at Highland Horse Fun.
"I wonder who else had power cut?" he asked.
"The lights went off at midnight and I am sure I heard a bit of a bang and power was restored again before 4am - which I think was great service by SSE.
"I'm not sure if there was damage to this transformer pole in Market Lane but some of the wires looked a bit black and burnt, so maybe that was the bang I heard.
"I just hope it wasn't Goaty McGoatface..."
Goaty, formerly a member of a wild herd, was rescued from the jaws of a Labrador several weeks ago above Newtonmore by one of Mr Ormiston's colleagues at the equestrian centre and after recovering from the savaging and a bad case of paralysis has been nursed back to full health.
Domesticated now, he is unable to return to the wild at lives at the centre, where it's just possible he decided to make a meal of the wiring.
Whatever the true cause of the break, power was ultimately fully restored to the area
"I've not seen one of these wee generator trucks before," said Mr Ormiston. "It's obviously a big investment for SSE and I wonder who pays for it in this day and age of consumers buying their power from the cheapest provider?
"I hope there is a way to recover these infrastructure costs from users?"
The Strathy has asked SSE for information about the power outage but meanwhile the finger points at Goaty!
