Police had to apply leg restraints to cope with a 25 year old Denny man who was kicking out at them when they went to arrest him.

The incident happened on May 26, earlier this year, at Meikle Cottage, Boat of Garten in the early hours of the morning

Inverness Sheriff Court heard today that police had cause to go and arrest Robbie Burton, of Karrie's Court, and attempted to apply handcuffs.

Fiscal depute Victoria Silver told Sheriff David Harvie: "He clenched his fists and kicked his chair away. He was told to desist but he continued flailing his arms about and kicking out. He was brought to the ground and leg restraints had to be applied.

"He later failed to provide a breath test at Burnett Road Police Station in Inverness.

Burton admitted resisting arrest and a failure to provide.

Fining Burton a total of £630 and banning him from driving for three years as he had an analogous conviction, Sheriff Harvie told him: "Your behaviour when the police were trying to deal with you was appalling. I hope you realise that now."
