Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal road crash on the A938 near Carrbridge yesterday.

The incident happened at around 5.40pm by Bogroy and involved a bronze Volvo XC90.

Emergency services attended but the 74-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 73-year-old female passenger of the car was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where medical staff describe her condition as serious but stable.

Sergeant Ewan Calder, of the North Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I am asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could assist us with our investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2596 of 26 May
