Detectives are appealing for information following a series of break-ins to properties in the Badenoch and Strathspey areas.

The incidents happened between Saturday March 2 and Monday (March 11) at properties in Newtonmore, Kingussie and Aviemore.

A total of six properties were broken into, with a number of items stolen including jewellery and cash.

There is no estimated value of the stolen items at this time.

Detective Constable Katie Birtles said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these areas, or who may have any information which could assist us, to please get in touch.

“We are keeping an open mind about whether these incidents are linked.

"Any information provided to police could make a difference and help us bring these enquiries to a successful end.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind people to take precautions to ensure that their homes are as secure as possible before leaving.

“Take time to make sure all locks are working and any alarm systems or CCTV are set before leaving your home and remember to remove or store any valuables out of sight.”

One of the victims, who did not wish to be named, told the Strathy: "We returned to Kingussie having been away for less than a day to find a complete shambles.

"It is something that no home-owner wants to find in what is normally a quiet, peaceful and friendly Highland town.

"It has caused damage and chaos and our only hope now is that word has travelled of the break-ins and others do not find themselves in the position we are in."

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting CR/0077797/24, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.
