'Gas leak' calls out Kingussie fire team to Co-op

A fire crew was called out just past 9 o'clock this morning after the alarm went up over a gas leak at the local Co-op store on the High Street.

A spokesperson at divisional HQ confirmed just the one appliance had been despatched to check out the situation.

The Strathy was told at the scene that the leak had been detected from one of the store's fridges.

The shop was closed to the public immediately and thorough checks were carried out.

By 11am the all clear had been given and the shop was re-opened.

No formal statements have been issued so far but it's understood that business is carrying on normally again at the store.
