With temperatures rising again in something of a rush, untold tonnes of snow and ice thawed with astonishing speed over the previous two days and nights and the banks of the Spey had no chance to contain the flow.

It's Badenoch which bears the Gaelic name of The Drowned Land but its sister to the north is no stranger either to the sudden changes the weather can inflict.
