Pair charged with murder of Inverness man Ross MacGillivray make second court appearance

Two men have appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court for a second time charged with the murder of a 36-year-old local man.

Craig Hayden (28), of Alness, and Leon Headey (21), from Liverpool, are accused of tying up Ross MacGillivray by his wrists while attacking him.

It is alleged that, while acting with another, they repeatedly struck Mr MacGillivray on his head and body by means unknown.

The charges also claim the men cleaned Mr MacGillivray's body and disposed of his clothing in the Caledonian Canal.

Mr Hayden and Mr Headey, who again made no plea, were fully committed.

Solicitor John MacColl, who represented Headey and substituted for Hayden's lawyer, David Patterson, once more confirmed no application had been made for bail.

Both were remanded in custody when they appeared yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a property in St Ninian's Drive on Sunday 12 November where Mr MacGillivray was found dead.
