Two walkers rescued in poor conditions in the Cairngorms

Two walkers had to be rescued in poor conditions in the Cairngorms earlier this evening.
The pair had been suffering from the effects of the cold and wet when they raised the alarm.
The 23 year old Polish man and 21 year old French woman had been exploring the area for several days but became exhausted and lost 3000 feet up on the Cairngorm Plateau.
Eight members of Caiorngorm Mountain Rescue Team were joined by four members of sportscotland's Glenmore Lodge's MRT after being called out around 5pm.
The pair were located around 7.30pm and walked off the hill after being checked over by the teams.
Cairngorm MRT team leader Willie Anderson said:"They've been out for a few days and have been hammered by the weather. We had a good idea where they are.
"The chap was particularly concerned about the woman who was particularly cold and wet."
Mr Anderson said that the pair had been well equipped but two days out in bad weather had taken its toll on them
He commented: "The weather was pretty awful - wet and windy as well as very cold - and it was dark. They just seem to have been caught out by the conditions.
"When we located them we had no concerns about their wellbeing and walked them off the hill."
