Motorists using the A9 near Slochd Junction are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with works due to get underway on Sunday.

The improvements will see over 600 metres of the A9 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

The project is expected to take place over four nights between 8pm and 6am, with all works expected to be complete by 6am on Thursday June 2, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, lane closures will be implemented and a 10mph convoy system, including the use of temporary traffic lights, operated to manage vehicle movements through the works site. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a speed restriction of 30mph will be in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A9 near Slochd Junction will help to address defects and greatly improve the route for road users.

“The planned overnight lane closures are essential to completing the works safely. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project as best we can by undertaking works overnight.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
