Nominations open for Highland Council elections

Nominations are being sought from candidates for the four local councillor positions representing Badenoch and Strathspey at Highland Council.

The notice of election has just been published.

The local government election, which takes place every five years, is now seeking candidates to come forward with their nomination to stand.

As published in the notice of election, a total of 74 councillors are to be elected for the 21 electoral wards situated in the Highland Council area, ranging from three or four members in each ward.

A council spokeswoman said: "Anyone wishing to stand, can download the nomination forms from the council’s website www.highland.gov.uk/SLG22Election."

Completed nomination papers must be hand delivered between 10am tomorrow and no later than 4pm on Wednesday 30 March to the appropriate Local Depute Returning Officer as detailed in the notice of election https://www.highland.gov.uk/slg22notice

The election is scheduled is to be held on May 5 and all relevant information can be found on the council’s website, this includes key statutory dates and arrangements for voting www.highland.gov.uk/SLG22Election
