An ice way to start the year in Kingussie!

Weather warnings are coming in from the capital of Badenoch – not on the roads but the pavements and platforms.

2021 has begun in sub-zero temperatures, as seen here in Ice Station Zero, Kingussie.

Treacherous walking conditions have been reported throughout the town but especially on its hillside streets to the west, with pavements little more than sheet ice.

"Tell everybody it's nature's way of agreeing with the government that everyone should just stay at home meanwhile," said photographer David Macleod as he sent first photos in of the year.

"I think any first footing defying the Covid restrictions last night would have been last footing!"
