NHS Highland encouraging people not to miss their winter vaccinations for Covid and flu
There is still time for those eligible to get winter vaccinations, NHS Highland has said.
Dr Tim Allison, the health board's director of public health, said: “Uptake of both the Covid and flu vaccinations in the Highland area has been good but we know there are still those who are high-risk and/or vulnerable who have yet to come forward for their vaccination.
“Anecdotally we have heard that some may still be waiting to be called for their vaccination. We are asking them to not wait but to please come forward now.
“Flu levels are the highest we have seen in years and the number of Covid cases has also increased. The best protection for you is to get vaccinated.”
The NHS Highland website has a list of clinics available with a mixture of drop-in and appointment only options.
The local Service Delivery Centre can also advise on nearest available clinics. It can be contacted by calling 08000 320 339.
Family members and friends of anyone classed as high-risk or vulnerable people is also being asked to check with them to see if they have been vaccinated.
Dr Allison added: “Vaccine uptake has been good but we’re very keen to ensure as many people come forward to get vaccinated.
"I would encourage those who are eligible for the winter vaccine but have yet to come forward to please do so now.”
