SEVEN fresh Covid-19 infections have been diagnosed across the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours.

The region's cumulative number of cases rose from 1577 to 1584 when the latest daily update was published this afternoon.

Six-hundred-and-seventy-seven new positive tests for Covid-19 were detected across Scotland in the past day.

Some 974 people were receiving treatment in hospital yesterday with recently-confirmed coronavirus – up 23 from the previous day.

Of those, 59 were in intensive care – down three since the previous update.

And sadly one further person has died following a Covid-19 diagnoses.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new positive tests in the Northern or Western Isles.

NHS Grampian reported 65 new cases – taking its overall tally to 5190.

And NHS Tayside's cumulative total rose to 6267 after a further 39 fresh infections were detected overnight.

Scotland has now reported some 100,783 positive tests since the start of the pandemic.
