Messages of good luck have poured in for the new owners of Aviemore Kart Raceway at the north end of the village.

Kenny Findlay and Gillian Oldham took over the popular attraction at Granish on Wednesday from the Bain family.

Aviemore businessman Colin Bain oversaw the development of the kartway and built most of the track and facilities himself over several years leading to its opening in summer 2016.

Mr Bain has a long association with go-karting in the village having run the one-time track at the old Aviemore Centre.

As well as the messages of good luck to the new owners, the Bains have been thanked by those on social media for bringing karting back to the village after an absence of nearly two decades.

David Morgan posted: "They've a hard act to follow! Fingers crossed it's run just as well. Congrats to the new owners."

Dee Ward stated: "Sorry to hear this and happy too. Samantha Taylor and your mum and dad have been fantastic. It took a lot to get the track so enjoy that lie down. Well deserved."

Dave Newsham said: "Good luck Kenny and Gillian. Sorry to see Colin, Dorothy and Sam leave. All the best in your future ventures!

"From all at Norscott Coffee & Vending."

The Bains have thanked their customers for the huge support they have received since they opened.

They said on the kartway's social media: "We would like to wish Kenny and Gill all the best and all the success in their new roles, and we want to say a massive big thank you to all of the great customers and staff who have supported us over the past five years.

"It has been a wild ride, and now we are off for a lie down.

"Good luck Kenny and Gill we know you guys will smash it!"

Mr and Mrs Bain have decided to retire. Aviemore Kart Raceway opened in May 2016 after Mr Bain had literally built most of the business up from scratch at the site.

Racing resumed there at the start of April after the Covid lockdown.

Mr Findlay has been contacted for a comment.
