The Moy Country Fair is winging its way back after a two-year absence due to Covid.

After a two-year hiatus, the annual Fair at Moy is set to return – and with a new name.

Moy Country Fair is taking place at Moy Estate near Inverness on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th August with an events roster that’s bigger and more diverse than ever.

The event committee decided on the name change to emphasise the country fair’s focus on being an inclusive and family friendly event with a great variety of entertainment for all the family to enjoy.

Online ticket sales have also been introduced to modernise the fair with a view to extending the reach of this popular event.

The traditional main ring activities and displays are back with a spectacular birds of prey demonstration, pipe bands, tug of war, gundog and fishing demonstrations, pets’ parade, foxhounds and terrier racing.

A variety of field sports will also be returning including clay pigeon and musket shooting, air rifles, catapults and archery.

The RNLI will also be in attendance to run water safety demonstrations in recognition that more and more people are enjoying the Highland countryside via pursuits such as wild swimming and paddle boarding.

The fair will also feature an array of activities for children from pony rides, a bouncy castle and climbing wall to an interactive craft event and Bubbles the Clown to keep the children entertained.

The change in name and re-branding of the event came about when organisers collectively wanted to re-energise the fair and broaden its appeal as a fun, family day out as well as an opportunity to celebrate field sports.

There will also be an increased emphasis on the Highland food scene with local producers, chefs and caterers all playing their part.

The introduction of a food theatre will enable them to showcase their culinary skills and allow people to enjoy their countryside cuisine.

A supporter of 15 local charities, the fair is an important date in many people’s calendars both locally and in the wider Inverness-shire area, donating £792,600 to local causes over its 40 year history.

JP Campbell, a director on the Moy Country Fair Committee, is excited to see the event return and welcome families to have a great day out.

He said: “The Moy Country Fair is a great way for everyone to come together in the countryside and celebrate the traditions that rural communities enjoy.

"After a challenging few years, we are thrilled to be able to see large events like this returning and are looking forward to welcoming many visitors as well as the many vendors and competitors in August.”
