Motorists have been posting warnings on social media over a notoriously hazardous stretch of road between Aviemore and Kincraig on the B9152 or "old A9".

"A word of warning for anyone driving from Aviemore to Kincraig," says one Facebook user this evening, to a chorus of agreement.

"The road is like an ice rink in places from the Rowan Tree to Kincraig.

"Watch yourself around the loch side and around the Dalraddy junction as it's particularly bad there, and icy most of the way through Kincraig."

It's something of a black spot around the Alvie bends, especially at Loch Alvie, which has been superficially frozen now for many days.

Police and roads officials have been advising for some time now that the best policy is simply to stay at home and keep travelling anyway only for essential journeys.
