Rescues go on for nest-fallen Badenoch pine martens

Last weekend’s little lost pine marten rescued by the SSPCA after falling from its nest at Kincraig’s Loch Insh Outdoor Centre was just the first.

“We have actually had three little rescues now,” said Jacalyn Freshwater at the popular activities base in Badenoch.

“All have survived and have been moved to a rehabilitation centre in Alloa.

“We are just happy they all get a happy ending and will eventually end up back in the wild.

Mrs Freshwater, a member of the family which has run the watersports base since its creation in 1968, told the Strathy: “All were left out overnight in the hope that Mum would collect them.

“But she didn’t.

“She is still coming to the nest, but SSPCA think she is an inexperienced mum.

“We’re glad they’re OK because they really are truly gorgeous wee things.”
