Road bosses have said there have been delays to ongoing resurfacing works on the A86 near Loch Laggan due to 'inclement weather'.

The project was due to be completed by 6am yesterday.

However, they have said that three additional road closures will be required from Sunday (May 22) to complete resurfacing operations.

The works on Sunday will take place between 10pm and 6am with work then being carried out between 8pm and 6am for the remaining two nights.

Traffic management will remain the same as originally planned, with work carried out using a full road closure.

As there is no suitable diversion route available, amnesties will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am, and 4am each night.

The 9pm and 10pm amnesties will not be required on Sunday night with vehicles being safely escorted through the site under a 10mph convoy traffic management system at these times.

A BEAR Scotland spokesperson said: "Road users are encouraged to arrive in good time to ensure they are accommodated within the amnesty period."

Out with working hours, and to keep disruption to a minimum, a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place on the A86 at the work sites as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times.

The spokesperson added: "Local access for residents and scheduled bus services will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable."
