A COMMEMORATIVE ride in tribute to an Inverness bike lover disability rights campaigner will see bikers gather and drive from Inverness to Aviemore next weekend.

The initiative is in memory of the late David Sansum, who sadly passed away in February, aged only 44.

Bikers will meet on July 8 at 9.45am at Pizza Hut at Inverness Shopping Park on Eastfield Way. They will leave at 10am and will be going through Drumnadrochit and Laggan to reach Aviemore.

A beloved member of the community in the city among bikers, David was a honourary British Legion Riders Club member and a regular participant to Thunder in the Glens.

His mother, Marie Sansum, said: "This has been a journey since February. We only got the cause death last week, so it was very emotional, as expected.

"We are missing him so much but take comfort in knowing that he had a good life. He travelled to Spain, Paris, Germany and Florida. He loved adventure and people, and always made time for a blether.

"Inverness bikers have been fantastic and I am proud they are doing this for him. He loved bikers and was a member of British legion riders. It will be an emotional day, but I am so grateful they are doing this. They also put a small plaque memorial in Edinburgh cemetery in their section, we were deeply touched by it."

The British Legion Riders Club are organising the ride, but those wishing to go along can meet in Inverness on the day.
