A man who sexually assaulted a woman in a Kingussie residential home has been placed on the Sex Offender's Register for five years.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that previous sex offender David Duncan of Glebe Court, Kingussie was co-operating with a community payback order for an earlier offence when he met the woman at the building.

Sheriff Sara Matheson was told that they had a friendly discussion on August 13, 2023 before the 61 year old went into the building to give her a wooden walking stick and knocked on the guest room door where the woman was staying.

"He sat on the bed and said he would like to get her into bed and grabbed her breast over her clothing. She said 'No,' he began apologising and left the room.

"She informed the management, police were made aware, he was traced and taken to Burnett Road Police Station in Inverness.

Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell said: "He offers no excuse and misread the situation completely. Alcohol contributes to his offending."

Duncan was fined £840.
