There has been wide ranging support in the local community for Aviemore and Glenmore Trust to take over the Glenmore Visitor Centre.

Trust leaders met with local residents and businesses in mid June, last year, to outline their plans for a ‘community anchor’ within Glenmore.

AGCT said the meeting was ‘predominantly positive’ with the local community supporting the Community Asset Transfer application.

Badenoch and Strathspey MP Drew Hendry (SNP) is also giving his backing: “The success of their Aviemore Ice Rink is a testament to what community spirit, combined with hard work, can achieve.

“The trust’s professional approach, coupled with its ability to inspire community buy-in, ensured the success of this venture.

“Similarly, AGCT’s plans for the visitor centre and café represent a promising step towards preserving our shared heritage while addressing the needs of our community today.

“Their balanced approach to history, community involvement and sustainable tourism is precisely the direction we should be supporting.

“I believe their vision to elevate visitor experiences with a welcoming environment and enhanced café services will benefit our tourism sector and generate local employment opportunities.

“Their plans to introduce spaces for events, workshops, and talks will, I know, be of great interest to various community groups.

“I wholeheartedly back AGCT’s efforts and vision.”

Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes (SNP) said: “I would be delighted to see the provision of local jobs at the centre and café – this would be of great benefit to the community.

“The plan to invest generated income back into the visitor centre and the local area is a fantastic initiative which could ensure that the services provided are maintained to a high standard...

“The trust has already demonstrated what they can achieve by the successful reopening of an ice rink facility in Aviemore, and I have every confidence they will make the visitor centre and café a success too.”

Local Highland councillors Bill Lobban, Russell Jones and Muriel Cockburn have also expressed their support.

Councillor Jones stated: “I know most of the AGCT members personally and they are people who live locally and have the best interests of our area at heart and will always balance business and tourism with the welfare of local people.”
