An emotional farewell will be bid to one of shinty's rising stars who died suddenly last month.

Calum Mackintosh, of Carrbridge, will be given a lap of honour and a guard of honour at his beloved Dell following his death at the age of 20.

Calum died from a cardiac issue on November 18 in Edinburgh where he was in the second year of a law course at the city's Napier University.

For those wishing to pay their respects, the funeral cortege will arrive at the Dell at around 9.15am on Friday (December 8).

His funeral service will take place at Grantown's Inverallan Church at noon and all are welcome.

The family have kindly requested those attending to wear bright colours and no black.

Calum was Dux of Grantown Grammar in 2021 and had been named Kingussie's young player of the season after a break-out season at the Dell which included being an instrumental player in the winning Camanachd Cup final side.

The shinty club has also invited players from other sports clubs near and far to join them to honour Calum.

Anyone who played shinty, rugby, football or any sport with or against him is welcomed to join the club for 9am at the Dell on Friday.

Donations will be collected for Lucky2BHere and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Calum is survived by his parents Iain and Ann and brothers Alan and Ewan.
